What Should I Do If I Am Injured whilst On Holiday?

If you are involved in an accident whilst abroad, it is important to ensure that you report the accident to the holiday representative, the hotel, excursion manager or whoever is relevant as soon as possible. Asking for an official complaint form and getting this signed by either the hotel staff or your tour representative will act as proof that your accident occurred and will confirm the dates and location.

If you are hurt then you should seek medical treatment immediately. Be sure to keep any receipts, paperwork or documentation for medical intervention and expenses such as taxi journeys or medication. Where possible, collate as much information as you can, take photographs and ask other guests if they would be happy to provide a written witness statement for you along with their contact details. This will all aid the validity of your claim on your return home.

It is advisable to start your holiday accident claim as soon as you can after returning home. This will ensure that the details of the accident are still fresh in your mind and that you are well within the strict three-year time limit for holiday injury claims.

How Much Compensation Could I Be Owed?
