What is a SIPP?

A Self Invested Personal Pension (SIPP) is a pension scheme, approved by the government and were introduced at the end of the 1980’s.

It is thought over one million pension holders in the UK have used a SIPP. It was thought that a SIPPs could help you increase your pension pot as your money would be used to fund riskier investments.

However, SIPPs were widely mis-sold and thousands have lost substantial amounts of their savings as a result of this.

In light of this, the FSCS (Financial Services Compensation Scheme) expect to pay £100 million in compensation costs where complaints are made about the mis-selling of this product.
